I've been following this post on the Goner-Records.com board and figured I'd bring it over here.

If Stiv had been alive I some how doubt he'd be wearing a Counting Crows t-shirt.

I wouldn't read too much into it, after all, look at the amount of kids TV presenters wearing AC/DC, Motorhead and Ramones T-shirts despite never having heard any of their work.

Yeah, shouldn't the thread title read:
"Counting Crows singer loves wearing trendy t-shirts"?

You are right, this is outrageous. An utter disgrace. How can this idiot try to use a T-shirt so cynically to try look cool. I am disgusted..... we all know that if you want to use a T-shirt to make you look cool then the only place to go is www.BathroomWall.co.uk

I take issue with musicians that wear shirts of bands that they most likely don't even know who the fuck they are!!! I would put fucking money that dipshit couldn't even name me one song other than "Sonic Reducer"

Why should Adam Duritz wanna look trendy?-he fronts a fantastic band thats been around a long time.
Stiv Bators wasnt much of a star was he?
I saw the Dead Boys support the Damned around 78,Stiv was ok-nothing special im afraid.
I can only name sonic reducer as well.

Martin, please be joking. Counting Crows are a horrendous band and will have no legacy at all, they influenced no one and contributed nothing of any substance to rock history. The Dead Boys, on the other hand, were adventurous, imaginative, exciting, had personality, they were creative and different and influenced loads of bands. Just because you only know one song does not mean they weren't an important band, it just means you only know one song. If you haven't heard "I Won't Look Back" from their second album or Stiv's solo material, then you speak from a place of ignorance. I've heard enough Counting Crows songs to know they are a derivative hacky shit band.

That being said the guy can wear whatever shirt he wants, who cares.

Not all bands can be influential!! The Dead Boys probably are-they never did too much here in England, not that i can remember anyway. By the way, when i saw The Dead Boys live,Stiv got hit in the face with a beer can that wasnt empty,he just carried on singing.
I love the Counting Crows-simply great songs-Adam is a great frontman as well.
